What is a sustainable wedding?

This is a question I get asked a lot. When we hear about sustainability, it’s usually in the context of climate change and the environment. But how does it relate to weddings?

It’s absolutely possible to have a sustainable wedding. And it’s more than just the actions you can take to lower your carbon footprint.

It was such a pleasure to design M&A’s venue stationery for their weekend wedding at Silverholme Manor. Having created their invitations, I wanted to continue the same elements, illustration, and calligraphy style, so that the invitations would feel like a seamless part of the wedding itself.

This year my winter collection is all about the winter solstice. For me, winter is always the time when I notice the sun the most, and consciously try to connect with nature as much as possible. It’s the waning light, falling leaves, shutting down. And then little by little, new growth appears, the days creep slowly longer, winter is complete.

A few years ago, buried in the bottom of a very old, worn, brown leather trunk, I found a little stack of old, unused postcards. The trunk itself was packed full of photographs collected from a lifetime.
