BESPOKE WEDDING INVITATIONS FOR A LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING

Getting married at Silverholme Manor in the Lake District, M&A wanted to reflect their passion for exploring the outdoors, all things nature, and their love of English Literature.

Once we had spoken and I learned more about them, their love story, and the feel they wanted for their wedding, I create a concept taking inspiration from nature and the natural landscape of Lake Windermere, and combining it with the elegant, dignified Georgian Manor of their venue.

We chose a soft palette of muted tones with accents of olive green and plum, and I designed a mood board for them that they could use for other parts of their wedding planning, not only their stationery.

All the papers for M&A’s stationery were made from sustainable papers made in the Lake District, to complement their nature-inspired wedding.

BESPOKE WEDDING INVITATIONS

The overall design of the invitation plays on layering and the structural shapes of the peaks and valleys of the Lake District. The pocketfold envelope creates a beautiful presentation sleeve, into which sit each layer – the invitation, details, map, and a further invite card for a second wedding party.

THE POCKET

WATERCOLOUR KEEPSAKE ILLUSTRATION

A watercolour painting of the view from Helvellyn, tucked into an extra pocket in the middle of the envelope. This was all about the opening experience, building the excitement for the guests, as a first look at what was to come; and an artwork in it’s own right, something that could be framed to remind everyone of that special moment.

THE INVITATION

Because of M&A’s love of hiking and adventuring outdoors, I wanted the stationery to feel as though someone was journeying around the Lakes and keeping a travel journal, sketching the beautiful landscape and scenery they saw. The illustrations are a combination of pencil sketches of the manor house and surrounding areas, and watercolour illustrations of the lake district. Paired with pointed pen calligraphy and a modern typeface.

THE MAP

Following on from the journal feel, the map takes inspiration from Field Notes notebooks and fold-out pocketbook maps, as a folded map book with illustrations of some of the couple’s favourite places inside, as well as their own gorgeous cottage home.
