ANATOMY OF WEDDING INVITATIONS
WHAT FORMS A WEDDING INVITATION?
Wedding invitations comprise lots of delicious clues, hints, and information to set the tone and feel of your celebration. Full of your stories, building a papery, tactile trail of what will come.
This is a little explanation of what you could include in your wedding invitations. It is by no means an exhaustive list; as always, there are no expectations as long as it feels like you.
Here are some of the possible components:
SAVE THE DATES
The first envelopes you’ll pop in the post and the first impressions your guests will receive. If you send Save the Dates, this is where your stationery journey will begin, and you’ll be able to use these as a guide as you curate all of the other details for your wedding.
THE INVITATIONS
The main item. Where, when, and who are the essentials, but the look, feel, and impression tell the real story and stir the anticipation. As the name suggests, make it inviting!
DETAILS & MAPS
Add a lot or a little information, and include elements that bring your wedding to life. These can tell your story as well as help your guests find their way to your wedding.
RSVPs
An RSVP can be a useful tool to get information back from your guests, especially to know who’s coming. Adding song choices and a reply envelope can help spur them on to put it back in the post.
FINISHING DETAILS
As a stationer, I love to work out how each collection appears when someone opens the envelope and pulls out its contents. How they’ll unwrap it is as important as how it looks. There’s lots of opportunity here to really make it say That’s Us! and create a wonderful, haptic experience.
ALL THE ELEMENTS
Whichever elements you choose, they’ll be sure to make your guests very, very excited!
